Chittenden Locks Large chamber closed Nov. 6-22

Published Oct. 20, 2017

SEATTLE – The large lock at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard is scheduled to close to all marine traffic from 9 p.m., Nov. 6, to 8 p.m., Nov. 22, for annual maintenance.

The small lock will still be available for vessels less than 120 feet in length and 26 feet in width throughout the large lock maintenance period. Mariners may experience delays, depending on passage demand.

This routine maintenance is necessary and important in keeping the 100-year-old Chittenden Locks safe and operational for years to come.

Questions may be directed to Lockmasters Larry Meyer or Vickie Shepard, at 206-789-2622 ext. 230, or Public Affairs Officer Bill Dowell, at 206-764-3464.
