Chief Joseph Dam visitor center closed due to coronavirus

Chief Joseph Dam is closing its visitor center to the public effective March 14 through April 13, following the lead of Federal and state health and government officials as a measure to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus in our community.

 

Effective at 6 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, March 14, the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will close all visitor center locations until April 13. We will be in continued contact with public health officials to evaluate our facilities beyond this timeline.

 

Critical operations staff will continue working at the facility to supporting water management and hydropower production for the region.

 

After much discussion, and in accordance with public health guidance, the Army Corps of Engineers will close gathering spots to support efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. The Corps of Engineers is committed to doing its part to help keep our city and region healthy and combat the further spread of COVID-19.
