Army Corps reopening facilities and services in Seattle District

SEATTLE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reopening services and recreation facilities beginning today, due to the availability of fiscal 2018 funding. The following Seattle District locations and services to the public are reopening:

             The park grounds at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard will reopen, starting at 6:30 a.m. today. Cyclists and walkers have access to or through the park, and the Visitor Center will return to fall hours.

             The Corps of Engineers’ regulatory permitting offices are reopening. For assistance please call 206-764-3495.

             The Corps of Engineers’ aerial maps and engineering records section is reopening.

             The park at Mud Mountain Dam is reopening, and rangers will begin patrolling trails and access points.

             Souse Gulch boat ramp and recreation areas at Libby Dam (with the exception of Alexander Creek) and the Trestle Creek recreation area on Lake Pend Oreille will reopen. Corps of Engineers-maintained boat ramps at Chief Joseph Dam, Libby Dam and on Lake Pend Oreille will be patrolled by Corps staff. 

             Visitor Centers, campgrounds and day-use facilities will reopen for normal fall/winter hours at all Corps locks and dams.  Campgrounds and facilities closed for the winter season prior to or during the shutdown will not reopen.
