ABOUT THE DOCUMENTS: Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) are prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). These documents provide general project information, a description of the alternatives considered, a description of existing conditions in the project area, and an evaluation of environmental benefits and impacts of the proposed project and the alternatives. Biological Assessments (BA) and Biological Evaluations (BE) are prepared for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service. They are technical documents which evaluate project impacts on animal and plant species protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
