Major Ryan A. Baum

Major Ryan A. Baum became the Deputy Commander, Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in July 2018.  Prior to his arrival to the District, he attended the Command and General Staff Officer’s College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.               

His prior assignments include:  Platoon Leader, Executive Officer and Assistant Operations Officer 7th Engineer Battalion, Fort Drum, New York, Afghanistan and Iraq; Assistant Brigade Engineer and Company Commander of the 66th Engineer Company and Headquarters Company, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Hawaii. 
 
Major Baum’s military education includes a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.  He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri. 
 
Major Baum’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Valorous Unit Award, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal,. He has also earned the Combat Action Badge, Ranger and Sapper Tabs, as well as the Parachutist and Air Assault Badges.
 
Major Baum is originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
