White River Chinook runs rising through collaborative efforts, operational changes
Puyallup Tribal Fisheries’ Blake Smith selects a Chinook salmon during biological inventory and hatchery stock collection operations at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ trap and haul facility on the White River. This fish has a ventral fin clipped, identifying it was raised in an acclimation pond. Depending on which side ventral fin was clipped and the salmon’s size helps determine the age.
