Lock Closures at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks

  • The small lock chamber will be closed for annual maintenance, from 6:00 a.m., March 2, 2026, to 4:00 p.m., March 13, 2026. 

     All marine traffic will use the Large Lock chamber for locking through navigation.

 

  • The large lock chamber will be closed from 6:00 am, Feb. 2, 2026 to 4:00 pm, Feb. 6, 2026, to conduct follow-on repairs to pump plant pipe infrastructure. 

    The Auxiliary (small) Lock chamber will be available marine traffic navigation.

    Vessels LOA: 110 feet or less; beam: 26 feet or less; and draft no greater than 14 feet.
