  • International Kootenay Lake Board of Control holding virtual public meeting

    The International Kootenay Lake Board of Control will hold a virtual public meeting at 6 p.m. PDT October 6. The public will be presented information on the International Joint Commission, the Kootenay Board, and the operation of Corra Linn Dam by Fortis BC under the 1938 Order on Kootenay Lake. The Board will take comments from the public regarding their concerns and suggestions on the Board’s activities.
  • Chittenden Locks announces upcoming extended large lock closure

    The Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks’ large chamber will close to all vessel traffic 5:30 a.m. October 15, for the third and final scheduled extended closure required for the Stoney Gate Valve Replacement Project. It is scheduled to remain closed until December 6.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public input on the Chehalis River Basin Flood Damage Reduction Project draft environmental impact statement (DEIS). Comments are due by November 17.
  • Work to begin on the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks scour repair project

    Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials have announced work will begin on the Emergency Scour Repair Project September 15.
  • USACE announces faster drawdown of Lake Washington lake levels

    Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials have announced Lake Washington elevation reductions in preparation for the Suquamish Tribal fishing season and Corps Emergency Scour Repair project that begins September 13 and 15, respectively. The drawdown has begun and the projected lake level should reach 20.25 ft. by September 12.
  • Army Corps announces fall drawdown elevation targets for Lake Pend Oreille

    Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials have announced Lake Pend Oreille elevation targets for the upcoming fall draft at Albeni Falls Dam. Winter drawdown is scheduled to commence on Sept. 20 and the fall 2020 elevation targets are to: • Hold summer pool elevation, 2,062-2,062.5 feet, through Sept. 20 • Maintain 2,061 feet through Sept. 27 • Target 2,060-2,061 feet by Sept. 30 • Target 2,051-2,051.5 feet by Nov. 15
