Army Corps of Engineers dredging Duwamish through January
The Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, last weekend began routine maintenance dredging of portions of the Duwamish Waterway to remove approximately 63,500 cubic yards of shoaled material from three sections within the federal channel in the waterway.

Chittenden Locks in Ballard schedules October-November closings
The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard will close to much or all marine traffic at various times Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, and the large lock is scheduled to close to all marine traffic from 9 a.m., Nov. 5, to 5 p.m., Nov. 20, for annual maintenance.

Corps of Engineers reopens Chittenden Locks park grounds in Ballard
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reopened the park grounds at the Chittenden Locks in Ballard Oct. 17 at 6:30 a.m. The grounds had been closed since Oct. 1 when federal funding for Corps parks became unavailable. With funding now restored, the grounds will be open again for visitors and commuters daily from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
