  • Corps of Engineers begins Grays Harbor maintenance dredging April 8

    USACE's hopper dredge vessels, Yaquina and Essayons, begin Grays Harbor outer harbor maintenance dredging April 8. The maintenance navigation dredging is required in the harbor area, whose deep draft channel is 350 feet wide increasing to 1,000 feet over the bar, to support Washington State's economy that relies on navigation and commerce.

  • Army Corps refilling Lake Washington for summer

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials began Lake Washington’s annual summer refill operations Feb. 15. Water managers are targeting a typical annual refill of the lake to elevation 22 feet this spring, to help meet increased summer water use and provide water necessary for fish passage, navigation and salinity control.

    Army Corps invites the public to submit logo designs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Libby Dam. The Libby Dam 50th Commemoration Logo Contest is open to all ages, and there is no cost to submit entries. Entries must be submitted before Jan. 1, 2025, 11:59 p.m. MT.

  • Army Corps Recaps Libby Dam 2024 Operations at Public Meeting Oct. 21

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold its fall public meeting in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Oct. 21, 7-7 p.m. PST. The meeting, led by Kootenai Valley Resource Initiative, will include a recap of Libby Dam’s annual operations for water year 2024.

  • Large Lock Center Gate At Chittenden Locks Remains Open Till Nov. 4

    The large lock chamber at Lake Washington Ship Canal and Hiram M. Chittenden Locks will remain open to navigation through noon, Nov. 4. Additional time allows the engineering team to ensure the new gates are installed as seamless as possible, upon arrival at the Chittenden Locks.

    Army Corps announces Lake Washington elevation reductions, in preparation for the Suquamish Tribal fishing season, will begin Sept. 15. Drawdown has begun, and projected lake level should reach 20.22 feet by Sept. 15.
