  • Libby Dam 50th Commemoration begins with logo contest

    Army Corps invites the public to submit logo designs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Libby Dam. The Libby Dam 50th Commemoration Logo Contest is open to all ages, and there is no cost to submit entries. Entries must be submitted before Jan. 1, 2025, 11:59 p.m. MT.

  • Army Corps Recaps Libby Dam 2024 Operations at Public Meeting Oct. 21

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold its fall public meeting in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Oct. 21, 7-7 p.m. PST. The meeting, led by Kootenai Valley Resource Initiative, will include a recap of Libby Dam’s annual operations for water year 2024.

  • Large Lock Center Gate At Chittenden Locks Remains Open Till Nov. 4

    The large lock chamber at Lake Washington Ship Canal and Hiram M. Chittenden Locks will remain open to navigation through noon, Nov. 4. Additional time allows the engineering team to ensure the new gates are installed as seamless as possible, upon arrival at the Chittenden Locks.

    USACE announces Lake Pend Oreille elevation targets for the upcoming fall 2024 drawdown, and plans to host a public meeting Oct. 7, 2024, to discuss include dam operations and the latest status of the Albeni Falls Dam Spillway Gate repair and replacement project.  

  • Army Corps announces faster Lake Washington lake level drawdown

    Army Corps announces Lake Washington elevation reductions, in preparation for the Suquamish Tribal fishing season, will begin Sept. 15. Drawdown has begun, and projected lake level should reach 20.22 feet by Sept. 15.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' routine maintenance dredging in Swinomish Channel, a federal navigation channel located between the eastern shore of Fidalgo Island and the mainland at the western edge of Skagit County, Washington, is scheduled to begin Sept. 9, 2024.

  • Corps of Engineers, JBLM, break ground on first-of-its kind sustainable materials barracks project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), U.S. Army I Corps, and Assistant Secretary of the Army leadership joined Washington State congressional representatives for an Aug. 7 groundbreaking ceremony on a first-of-its-kind barracks pilot program using sustainable building materials meant to reduce its carbon footprint. Once complete, the new barracks will improve the quality of life for 168 Soldiers at JBLM, Wash.

  • Restored Fish and Wildlife Habitat Officially Reopens at Lake Ballinger

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Mountlake Terrace celebrated the completion of a fish and wildlife habitat restoration project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 30, at Ballinger Park, Wash. Covering more than 16 acres of a former golf course, the transformation project restores wetlands, riparian corridors, and creates more places for birds, fish, turtles, salamanders, and native mammals to live.

    Brig. Gen. William C. “Bill” Hannan, Jr. assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division in a ceremony at Bonneville Lock and Dam on the Columbia River today.
