Public review and comment of proposed Tesoro Savage terminal work opens July 2

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public review and comment on a proposal by Tesoro Savage Petroleum Terminal, LLC, to construct an oil export terminal located in the Columbia River at the Port of Vancouver, in Clark County, Washington. Comments will be accepted July 2 – Aug. 1, 2015.

Chittenden Locks to close 5 hours June 30 for saltwater drain inspection

SEATTLE – The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard will close to all marine traffic 8 to 11 a.m. for the small locks and an additional two hours, until 1 p.m., June 30 for a monthly saltwater drain screen structure inspection.

Drought affecting how Corps officials manage Chittenden Locks

SEATTLE – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials anticipate Lake Washington’s level will drop below 20 feet this summer, the first time since October 1987, and are taking steps to conserve water during this year’s drought.

Chittenden Locks to close June 2 for salt water drain inspection

SEATTLE – The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard will close to all marine traffic 8 a.m. to noon, June 2, allowing U.S. Navy divers to inspect a saltwater drain screen structure.

Sturgeon flow augmentation set to begin May 22 at Libby Dam

Water managers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along with federal, tribal, and state fishery biologists, have determined that water temperature and flow are now sufficient to commence sturgeon flow augmentation operations at Libby Dam, Montana, for endangered Kootenai River white sturgeon downstream in Idaho.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will raise lakes Washington and Union to the target summer elevation of 22 feet a couple weeks earlier than normal due to extremely low inflows to Lake Washington.
