  • Army Corps of Engineers Work Plan for FY 2021 Civil Works Appropriations includes over $97 million for Seattle District projects

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2021 Work Plan for the Army Civil Works program on January 19, 2021. The work plan includes more than $97 million additional funding for Seattle District projects, including: • Grays Harbor - $2,750,000 • Lake Washington Ship Canal - $18,784,000 • Seattle Harbor (Harbor Donor and Energy Transfer Port Payment) - $2,782,000 • Tacoma Harbor (Harbor Donor and Energy Transfer Port Payment) - $2,744,000 • Puget Sound Nearshore Marine Habitat Restoration - $2,563,000 • Albeni Falls Dam Fish Passage - $68,100,000

  • Seattle Corps of Engineers activates Emergency Operations Center

    SEATTLE — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, has declared a district emergency and activated its Emergency Operations Center Jan. 12. The emergency declaration by Col. Alexander “Xander” L. Bullock, Seattle District commander, is in response to National Weather Service forecasts for western Washington rivers to exceed flood stage with the most significant forecasts in the central Cascades. Rain is anticipated to continue through today with rivers expected to crest Wednesday.

  • Chittenden Locks announces upcoming large lock closure

    The Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks’ large chamber will close to all vessel traffic 5:30 a.m. March 22, and remain closed until 5:00p.m., March 27.

  • Corps of Engineers to start Grays Harbor maintenance dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin maintenance dredging of the federal Grays Harbor Inner Harbor Navigation Channel January 4, 2021.

  • Army Corps Maintenance Dredging Kenmore Federal Channel

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with local sponsor King County, will begin maintenance dredging of the Kenmore Federal Channel December 14, 2020, in Kenmore, Washington.

  • Army Corps dredging Everett Harbor, Snohomish River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with local sponsor Port of Everett, will begin maintenance dredging of the lower channel and settling basin of Everett Harbor and Snohomish River December 9, 2020.

  • Army Corps announces Albeni Cove Recreation Area closure

    Albeni Cove Recreation Area will be closed for the 2021 season while the campground and day-use area are used to stage materials for Strong’s Island bank stabilization work.

  • Corps of Engineers to begin Keystone Harbor maintenance dredging October 12

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin maintenance dredging in the Federal navigation channel at Keystone Harbor. The contractor, American Construction, will start dredging Oct. 12 and continue for approximately nine weeks.

  • Chehalis River project federal environmental review public meetings Oct. 8 and 14

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting two virtual public meetings Thursday, Oct. 8, and Wednesday, Oct. 14, on the Chehalis River Basin Flood Damage Reduction Project draft environmental impact statement (DEIS). Comments are being accepted through November 17 by email, through an online form, by U.S. Mail, voicemail, and in person during the two virtual public meetings.

  • Chittenden Locks announce garden reopening

    The Hiram M. Chittenden (Ballard) Locks will reopen the Carl S. English Jr. Botanical Garden to visitors, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. Facilities, including the visitors center, and access across the locks’ bridges will remain closed until further notice.
