Army Corps announces fall drawdown elevation targets for Lake Pend Oreille

Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ officials have announced Lake Pend Oreille elevation targets for the upcoming fall draft at Albeni Falls Dam. Winter drawdown is scheduled to commence on Sept. 20 and the fall 2020 elevation targets are to: • Hold summer pool elevation, 2,062-2,062.5 feet, through Sept. 20 • Maintain 2,061 feet through Sept. 27 • Target 2,060-2,061 feet by Sept. 30 • Target 2,051-2,051.5 feet by Nov. 15

Army Corps delays Albeni Falls Dam recreation season

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officials at Albeni Falls Dam have delayed its recreation season. Subject to state and federal changes in guidance the Corps is now tentatively scheduled to open Albeni Falls Dam recreation areas on June 19. The delay provides greater flexibility to contractors and protects against further spread of the coronavirus.

Army Corps to host virtual Albeni Falls Dam public information meeting

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a virtual Albeni Falls Dam spring operations public information meeting 6-7:30 p.m. PDT, May 11. Representatives from the Corps and National Weather Service will discuss weather forecasts, snowpack, water supply forecasts, Albeni Falls Dam operations and project updates. Members of the public, elected officials, and stakeholders with an interest in Albeni Falls Dam and the Pend Oreille Basin are encouraged to call in and learn more about dam operations.

Army Corps expects Lake Pend Oreille to reach summer level by June 26

Lake Pend Oreille is rising to its summer level, according to the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps operates Albeni Falls Dam, which regulates the level of Lake Pend Oreille.

UPDATE - Debris could enter Lake Pend Oreille, boaters should use caution

Army Corps of Engineers’ officials have declared a log-boom breach at the Clark Fork Drift Facility an emergency and are warning boaters to watch out for logs and other floating debris on Lake Pend Oreille. Logs and debris from the Clark Fork River may pass through the breach. Floating and submerged logs and debris can be a safety hazard for all recreational boating activities.

Army Corps to keep Lake Pend Oreille up higher longer in September

Water managers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are planning to operate Albeni Falls Dam to hold Lake Pend Oreille to within half a foot of a lake level of 2,061 feet above sea level by the end of September.
