  • Redmond pays fine for failing to comply with Army Corps permit conditions

    The City of Redmond has paid an Administrative Penalty for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of a Department of the Army permit issued pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. The Corps recently issued a penalty in the amount of $32,500 after the permit holder failed to comply with the terms and conditions of Nationwide Permit No. 27 for a Bear Creek restoration project.

  • Col. John G. Buck assumes command of Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

    Colonel John G. Buck assumed command of the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, July 18, 2014. As District Commander, Buck oversees military construction in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon. He also manages an extensive civil works engineering and construction mission in Washington, Idaho and Montana. His programs also include Historic Preservation of Historic Structures, and Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste cleanup. Seattle District manages half a billion dollars worth of work annually with a workforce of about 900 employees.

  • Northwest Alloys and Army Corps reach settlement agreement on wetland impacts at Longview site

    A settlement agreement reached last week between the Army Corps of Engineers and Northwest Alloys, Inc., resolves a past permit violation in Longview with a planned purchase of wetland bank credits to make up for wetland impacts from an unauthorized mechanical clearing at a site along the Washington side of the Columbia River.

  • Comments sought on proposed Anacortes Shell rail spur and crude oil facility

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released a public notice announcing the public review and comment period for a proposed rail spur and crude oil facility at the Shell Puget Sound Refinery at Anacortes, Wash. The comment period is from July 8 until Aug. 7, 2014. The proposed project would construct a rail spur and crude oil loading/unloading facility at the Shell Puget Sound Refinery in Anacortes, Wash.

  • Final Supplemental EIS for Grays Harbor Navigation Improvement completed

    A supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Grays Harbor Navigation Improvement Project will be available for review and comment July 11-Aug. 11, 2014. The Corps has produced a limited reevaluation report and supplemental EIS resulting from a General Investigation of dredging the federal navigation channel to its legislatively authorized depth of -38 feet.

  • Public meetings July 16 and 24 on Draft EIS on BP Cherry Point dock North Wing

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding two meetings on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which examines the incremental environmental risk, principally from vessel traffic, related to operation of the previously authorized addition of the North Wing to the BP Cherry Point dock, near Ferndale, Wash. The North Wing has been in operation since 2001 and handles refined petroleum products.
