  • Army Corps opening Libby Dam Campgrounds

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officials at Libby Dam will open Blackwell Flats and Dunn Creek Flats Campgrounds Friday afternoon, May 22, 2020, in time for Memorial Day weekend. While the campgrounds, boat ramps and day-use areas are open, the Libby Dam Visitor Center and Dam Tours will remain closed until further notice. Special Events have been cancelled or rescheduled for the fall. Picnic Shelters also remain closed, with no reservations available for now. Individual picnic tables are still available.
  • Army Corps team deploys to Montana, Idaho for flood assistance

    The Emergency Operations Center at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, partially activated May 19 in response to the St. Joe and Clark Fork rivers exceeding flood stage. The states of Idaho and Montana requested technical assistance and six USACE flood responders have deployed to the area to provide support.
  • Army Corps delays Albeni Falls Dam recreation season

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) officials at Albeni Falls Dam have delayed its recreation season. Subject to state and federal changes in guidance the Corps is now tentatively scheduled to open Albeni Falls Dam recreation areas on June 19. The delay provides greater flexibility to contractors and protects against further spread of the coronavirus.
  • Army Corps to host virtual Libby Dam public information meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a virtual Libby Dam annual operations public information meeting 7-8:30 p.m. MDT May 14. Representatives from the Corps, National Weather Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will discuss water supply forecasts, Libby Dam operations, and Kootenai River white sturgeon recovery. Members of the public, elected officials, and stakeholders with an interest in Libby Dam and the Kootenai River are encouraged to call in and learn more about dam operations.
  • Army Corps to host virtual Albeni Falls Dam public information meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a virtual Albeni Falls Dam spring operations public information meeting 6-7:30 p.m. PDT, May 11. Representatives from the Corps and National Weather Service will discuss weather forecasts, snowpack, water supply forecasts, Albeni Falls Dam operations and project updates. Members of the public, elected officials, and stakeholders with an interest in Albeni Falls Dam and the Pend Oreille Basin are encouraged to call in and learn more about dam operations.
