    Chittenden Locks large chamber to close for maintenance

    SEATTLE – The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks large chamber will close to vessel traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 17, 18 and 19, for work on the emergency closure system, or ECS. The large chamber will also close the same times August 6-8 as part of the work. The small lock will continue operations during both closures.

    Army Corps begin repair to the Shoalwater Bay Barrier Dune near Tokeland, WA

    To restore flood protection for the Shoalwater Bay Tribal community and cultural lands, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, is reconstructing a sand dune in Willapa Bay near the Shoalwater Bay Indian Reservation.

    Washington (June 11, 2018) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2018 (FY 2018) work plan for the Army Civil Works program on Thursday, June 7. The work plan includes nearly $37.5 million additional funding for Seattle District projects.

    Army Corps’ Clark Fork River basin team completing work in Plains, Montana

    The Clark Fork River basin flood team from the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is providing scour protection at a levee in Plains, Montana, to protect the fairgrounds, businesses and infrastructure. Okanogan River basin flood team members completed work yesterday with Okanogan County at the Riverside levee and the Clark Fork team completed work on the Turah Levee in Missoula County, Montana. The Pend Oreille team is monitoring levees and providing technical assistance to local communities as the Pend Oreille River continues to rise.

    Army Corps’ Okanogan River basin flood team begins levee work in Riverside, Washington

    The Okanogan River basin flood team from the Seattle District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, began work May 25 to assist Okanogan County in closing a section on the left bank of the breached Riverside levee. The Clark Fork team is continuing work on the Turah Levee in Missoula County, Montana, and both teams and the Pend Oreille team are monitoring levees and providing technical assistance to local communities as rivers remain above flood stage.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers identifies additional short-term natural disaster recovery activities

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today additional work it will accomplish with funding provided in Public Law 115-123, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, signed into law February 9, 2018. The additional work includes 11 Seattle District levee repair projects totaling approximately $6 million.
